Nissan cars have long been a trusted choice for parents of new drivers. The safety and durability of Nissan vehicles have not gone unnoticed over the years. One classic example is the Nissan Altima. There are plenty of 2000, 2002, and beyond models that are still thriving on the road, so this model is clearly a good long-term investment.

For our most budget-friendly option for students, you’ve got to check out the Nissan Sentra. Not only does it have a super low base price, but the fuel efficiency of 37 miles per gallon on the highway really pays off over time. This compact model is easy to drive, easy to park, and functional for no-frills everyday travel.

If your student needs more cargo space for those dorm essentials or extracurriculars, the Nissan Kicks or Nissan Rogue might be a good fit. Both SUVs, the Nissan Kicks is slightly more compact, with a lighter, nimbler feel. The Nissan Rogue has more options for add-on luxury, but it features more traditional styling and a more grown-up feel.
