Getting a flat tire stinks. Plain and simple. However, if you know exactly what to do should that situation occur, we think you’ll feel much better about it if it ever happens to you. The professionals in our Nissan service center created an easy-to-follow list of the steps you should take to change a tire.

  1. Park the car. This may sound pretty obvious, but we want to stress that it’s important to pull over and park somewhere safe. You never want to have your back up against highway traffic while you’re trying to change a tire. Location is key.
  2. Locate your tools. You’re going to need the spare tire (obviously), jack, and tire iron. You should always, always keep these items in your car, as well as jumper cables and an emergency roadside kit because you never know what may happen.
  3. Change the tire. Next, loosen your wheel lugs, jack up the car, remove the wheel lugs, and remove the damaged tire. Probably easier said than done, but we have faith in you. After that, it’s just a matter of mounting the replacement, lowering the car, and tightening up the wheel lugs nice and snug.
  4. Lastly, we want you to slowly and carefully drive yourself to our dealership. Spare tires are somewhat fragile and not meant for the speed or mileage that a regular tire is capable of.

Whether your flat tire needs to be repaired or replaced entirely, we can take care of it for you in the service center at our NJ Nissan dealership. At Sansone Nissan, we are here to help you out with any of your automotive needs. Get in touch with us today to learn more tips on how to change a tire!
