A mechanic completing an oil change

There are several signs that your vehicle needs a Nissan oil change. Read on to learn the indicators, and then stop by Sansone Nissan for your next oil change.

1. Physical Indicators

Your vehicle actually has a few visible signs that will let you know that it is time for an oil change. The last time you got an oil change, you most likely got a sticker put onto the top left corner of your windshield. That sticker will tell you a service date and/or an odometer milestone that signifies when you need to come in for your next oil change.

If you have a newer vehicle, there may also be information on your dashboard that tracks your remaining oil life and notifies you when it’s time for an oil change.

Finally, you can manually check your oil yourself. Lift the hood of your vehicle and remove the dipstick. Once you’ve wiped it off, you can read its markings to determine if you need to refill your oil.

2. Sounds

When your oil is dirty or low, your vehicle may start to make strange noises while you are driving, such as a knocking or clicking sound. If your vehicle sounds like it’s struggling, or if it is louder than usual, bring it in for service immediately.

3. Trouble Starting

If your vehicle is having issues starting, then you need to bring it in for service. This may be a sign your engine oil isn’t working how it should. Since the oil’s role is to lubricate the moving parts of the engine, the engine’s start may be delayed if the oil needs to be replaced.

If you notice any of these signs in your vehicle, bring your car to Sansone Nissan for a service appointment. Our experienced mechanics will have your vehicle in great shape in no time!
